8 teams shared the lead with 4 match points in the asian club cup chess
championship. The top rated Al Ain team won against intchess of singapore by
3.5 to .05
with grandmaster Efimenko zahar conceedeing a draw to  bui vinh . in a
sicilian defense the players followed theory and in the ensuing complex
middlegame
efimenko emerged with an outside passed pawn. however a error in technical
endgame enabled bu to attain a draw with his active king and passed pawn.
 india club from  Chennai team whitewashed a strong yemen  squad. the
talented youngesters have had a ideal start . International master  el taher
fouad defeated grandmaster barsov alexei . el taher said he played
tactically and won with a decisive mating attack in a french defense.

The Asian Chess Federation shall organize two FIDE Seminars, under
the programs of CACDEC and the Asian Chess Academy, concurrent with
the Asian Club Cup scheduled 25-31 December 2008 in Al Ain, United
Arab Emirates. The first ever fide trainers seminar was held in Hilton
hotel alain with 35 participants from 20 countries

150 PLAYES FROM 30 CLUBS IN 20 COUNTRIES VIE FOR THE FIRST TITLE

President of the Asian Chess Confederation (ACC) Shaikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Shakhboot Al Nahyan, also the President of Al Ain Culture and Chess Club (ACCC), opened yesterday the competition of the first ever Asian Chess Champions League at the indoor stadium of the Al Ain Sports Club. The official opening of the new continental competition means a big leap towards improving the standards of the game in Asia and comes within the new vision of Shaikh Sultan and the members of the ACC to achieve progress for the Game of Kings at a time in which the Asian continent can boast of its international achievements in chess in both the men and women world championships.

The Asia Club Cup Gets Underway

In the big and beautiful facilities of the Al Ain Sport arena, many people have gathered to witness the start of the first Asian Club Championship.

Long before the start of the Competition, a friendly and joyful atmosphere could be noticed: players and officials happy to meet again and to greet each other, pleased to exchange views, remembering past Events they experienced, moving tired less around the hall. In the , spectators, mostly wearing traditional white gowns, most of them teenagers, filled the seats, thrilled by the Event, surely busy talking and speculating excitedly about the Competition.
