Tehran won Asian Cities Championship

Sheikh Sultan Award Dubai Cup to Dr. Maddahi President of Iran Chess Federation   The Tehran chess team won the Asian Cities Team Championship for the Dubai Cup, followed by runner-up Bangalore, India and Damascus, Syria who prevailed in the tie for third over Furn El Chebak Team A of Lebanon. Twenty teams competed in the 9-round Swiss tournament organized by the Lebanese Chess Federation under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation, 15-23 April 2009 in Furn El Chebak, Lebanon. Kathmandu team from Nepal which placed an impressive 5th place.

Asian Individual Championships and Subic Open in Philippines

The National Chess Federation of the Philippines, on behalf of the Asian  Chess Federation and FIDE, invites Asian National Chess Federations to participate in the 8th Asian Continental / Individual Open and Women's Championships from 12th to 24th May 2009 at the Subic Exhibition and Convention Center in Subic Bay, Freeport Zone, Olongapo City, Philippines with total prizes of $50,000 for the Open and $15,000 for the Women's. 20 Teams compete in Asian Cities for Dubai Cup

The 16th Asian Cities Team Championship for Dubai Cup reeled off with 20 teams competing from 15th to 23rd April in Beirut, Lebanon. The powerhouse Iran chess team, with three Grandmasters. is the heavy favorite to win the Dubai Cup.  Furn el Chebak Municipal Mayor opened the tournament together with Sulaiman Al Fahim, president of the UAE Chess Federation, who signed an agreement of cooperation with the Lebanese Chess Federation during the opening ceremonies.Teams as seede are 1 Tehran (Iran);2 Baghdad (Iraq);3 Furn El Chebak A (Lebanon)on the first day top seeded teams start with victories but 2 big surprize was victory of Bandar Emam team from Iran include 4 ladies over second seed team Baghdad from Iraq 2.5 / 1.5 ,and also victory of Suleimaniya team from Iraq over Sanaa from Yemen was a big surprize.

The Ravana Challenge

The Blue & Gold Chess Club in collaboration with the Excalibur Consultants has the honor of inviting all Chess players to participate in the inaugural “The Ravana Challenge International Chess Tournament” under the auspices of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, from September 12th (arrival) to September 20th, 2009 (departure) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Tournament will be held in a 5 star hotel in Colombo. Total 15000 US$ Cash Prize will award to the winners. See the regulation
