Florencio Campomanes, condolences from Asian Chess Federation President

Florencio Campomanes, FIDE President from 1982 to 1995, passed away 1:30 pm, 3rd May in Baguio City, Philippines after a bout with cancer. He was 83. FIDE joins together in sending condolences to his family and to the National Chess Federation of the Philippines. Asian Chess Federation President  Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifah Al Nahyan said  Please send my condolence to his family." extend our condolences to the family of Florencio Campomanes, and he add Campo raised Asian chess to great heights. His work lives on in Asia and in the chess world.

Asian Indidual Championship 2010; Subic; Philippines

Final Results: Chinese GM Ni Hua and Iranian WGM Atousa Pourkashiyan won the 9th Asian Individual Championships held 20-30 April 2010 in Subic Freeport, Philippines. Ni Hua and Pourkashiyan both scored a total of 7 points out of 9 rounds to finish alone in first in their respective Open and Women's divisions.

The tournament was organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) under the auspices of FIDE and the Asian Chess Federation (ACF) and hosted by the Subic Bay Management Authority (SBMA). The top five Men qualify for the next World Cup while the Asian Women's champion qualifies for the 2012 Women's World Championship. The Asian Individual Championships are now held annually and next year's edition shall be hosted by the Iran Chess Federation.
 

Asian Individual Championship 2010 in Women and Open Section Started on 21 April 2010 in Subic Philippines.  A strong field of 32 Grandmasters and 20 IMs are among 90 players from 15 countries seeing action in the 9th Asian Continental Championship for Open and Women 20-30 April 2010 in Subic Freeport, Philippines. In the women's division, 24 players from 9 countries with 7 WGMs, 2 IMs and 5 WIMs taking part. A total of $65,000 is at stake in both tournaments, with $50,000 for the Open and $15,000 for the Women's.  At the players' meeting it was proposed and agreed to make them both 9-round Swiss System events.

Asian Senior & Amateurs Championship 2010

The Lebanese Chess Federation, on behalf of the Asian Chess Federation, invites your players to participate in the Asian Seniors and Amateur Championships, 4-14 June 2010 in Beirut, Lebanon.  Download invitation and regulations. Download registration form.

Amateurs Championship is open for all asian players with rating under 2000 in last 2 years and  has 6000$ prize found and Seniors is open for all players over than 55 Years old also with 6000$ prize found.

 The Chinese Chess Association has the honour to invite all Asian National Chess Federations affiliated to FIDE to participate in the 2010 Asian Youth Chess Championships (under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14, under- 16, and under-18) hosted by the Jinma Chess Club under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation from 8th (arrival) to 15th July (departure) 2010 in Beijing, China.
 
Asian Continental Championships 2010 in Subic, Philippines

The National Chess Federation of the Philippines on behalf of FIDE and the Asian Chess Federation invites federations in Zones 3.1 to 3.6 to participate in the Asian Continental Individual Open and Women's Chess Championships 20 to 30 April 2010 in Subic Freeport, Olongapo. Download invitation letter of NCFP President Prospero A. Pichay, and regulations and registration form.

At stake are a total of $50,000 in cash prizes for the Open and $15,000 in cash prizes for the Women's, as with last year's championship. The top five (5) from the 2010 Asian (Open) Championship shall qualify for the 2011 World Cup. The 2010 Asian Women's champion shall qualify for the 2012 Women's World Championship. As approved by the Asian Continental Assembly, the Asian Open and Women's Championships shall henceforth be annual events.
