 Asian Chess Federation president Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifah Al Nahyan and the ACF Secretariat welcomes the new president of the Bangladesh
Chess Federation, Muhammad Zamir, M.A., M.A., LL. B., Dip. M.L. (Beirut), Dip.H.L. (Geneva), Dip P.S. (Uppsala) Muhammed Zamir, a former career diplomat, has worked as Ambassador in various countries in Europe-Italy, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.He has also been Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, FAO, the World Food Programme, International Fund for Agricultural Development and the European Communities and Head of the Political Division of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

He has also been Secretary, Ministry of the Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.

Educated in Dhaka where he specialized in literature and law, he also studied Arabic and International Relations at the British Middle East Centre for Arabic Studies in Shemlan, Lebanon, International Humanitarian Law in Geneva, Switzerland and Peace and Security Studies in Uppsala, Sweden.

During his association with diplomacy for nearly thirty-four years, he has served in diplomatic assignments in Beirut, Cairo, Tehran,Tripoli, Ottawa,Bangkok, London, Jeddah, Rome and Brussels.

He is President, Bangladesh Folklore Research Centre, Chairman, Bangladesh Renewable Energy Society, Member, South Asia Media Commission, Vice-President, Centre for Democracy and Vice-President, Bangladesh Water Partnership.

He has published ten books dealing with Human Right and International Law, Islamic Theology, Adages in Bengali, Contemporary international issues and subjects of importance to Bangladesh and South Asia. He has also published a book of poetry. He contributes op-ed columns in several newspapers both in Bangladesh and abroad.

He is a resource person for the National Defense College, the Judicial Affairs Training Institute, the Central Public Service Commission, the Foreign Affairs Training Institute, the Planning Academy, the Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority and several electronic media institutions like the ATN TV, NTV, Channel-i, the BTV the Bangla Vision TV, the Desh TV, the RTV, the Boishakhi TV anf the Ekushey TV.

He is a life member of the Bangla Academy, Dhaka He presently practices law as an advocate in the Chamber of Dr. M. Zahir and Associates, Dhaka.
