Asian Schools Begins in a grand Style!
The Asian Schools Chess Championships 2009 started in a grand way, in Colombo Sri Lanka with the participation of six Asian Countries, The Inauguration was held under the patronage of Mr. Custo Abundo, the Vice President of the Asian Chess Federation and Mr. Upali Gunasekera, the President of the Schools Chess Association and the Principal of Royal College, the leading school in Sri Lanka.

A record, total number of 180 players from Six Countries, India, Iran, Australia, Malaysia and Yemen with the host, Sri Lanka are participating in this event. The tournament, which is sponsored by the Ceylon Continental Hotel of Sri Lanka is is admired by all participants of the high level of hospitality offered for the participants. The event will continue till 22nd of December 2009 and Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapakse, the first Lady of the Country is expected to be the Chief Guest.
